The Importance of Lotion for Oily Skin

Lotion for Oily Skin
One of the major myths associated with oily skin is that moisturizer makes things worse. This is not necessarily a false statement, but it all depends on what kind of moisturizer you use. Oily skin requires moisture just like the other skin types, however you must be careful to choose a product that is made for your skin type. Lotions and creams for dry skin are going to be too heavy for oily skin and add to the greasy look. You need a light, oil-free lotion made for oily and blemish prone skin, and luckily there are quite a few choices out there.
Clean and Clear is a brand that makes an oil-free lotion containing salicylic acid, which treats and prevents acne. This lotion not only fights acne, but moisturizes the skin without causing further problems. It is perfect to use after treating your blemishes with a strong product like benzoyl peroxide cream which can cause dry patches. Also if you use a retinol product for your acne this is a good lotion. Because this product does not contain sunscreen, you will need to follow up with an oil-free sunscreen made for the face all year round to prevent sun damage.
If you prefer high end beauty products, consider Renergie Oil-Free Lotion from Lancome. Although this lotion is light and free of oil, it hydrates beautifully to plump fine lines and wrinkles, and is great for day or night use. Another product to consider is ReVive Sensitif Oil Free Lotion. This lotion mattifies the skin leaving a shine-free finish. It also contains EGF which is a natural protein molecule. It even protects skin from the sun with SPF 15, but be prepared to shell out nearly $200 for this product as ReVive is an expensive skin care line.
One of the cheapest types of lotion for oily skin, or shall we say oil, is jojoba oil. Desert Essence makes jojoba oil in various sized bottles for a very affordable price. Jojoba oil can be used as a cleanser for oily skin, as it whisks away dirt and makeup and helps regulate sebum production. Massage the oil into dry skin, then wet your hands and massage face with warm water, finishing with a thorough rinse. You might think that oil on oily skin is a no-no, but in this case it is an excellent idea. For dry patches if you have them a dab of jojoba oil rubbed in should take care of things as well. This oil is also a great hair treatment and after shaving moisturizer.
