Creams Lotions

Everyone wants to age gracefully. Some people go as far as having plastic surgery, or having fillers like Restylane or Juvederm injected into their faces, not to mention Botox. However, there are many who would prefer using creams, lotions and serums to slow the signs of aging. There are all kinds of lotion products meant to moisturize and more, serums for all skin types to tighten, plumpers to fill in lines and wrinkle cream to erase the creases. You simply need to look as far as the Internet, or most any store in your area.

The first thing you should do is identify your skin type. Normal skin is not overly dry or oily. Nor is it red or sensitive. It is not prone to breakouts. Oily skin is prone to acne, and often looks shiny. Dry skin may look tight and have dry patches. Sensitive skin may also be dry, but it is more prone to rashes and redness. Combination skin is usually oily on the forehead, nose and chin and dry elsewhere. Mature skin shows creases and wrinkles. After identifying your skin issues, you are ready to choose products.

Next you need to figure out what brand to buy, from what store. Some swear by pricey brands purchased from high end retailers and stores like Sephora. Others are perfectly happy with skin care products purchased from the supermarket. A handful of brands from all areas of the price spectrum include crème de la Mer, Clinique, Lancome, Kinerase, Olay, Dove, Neutrogena, L’Oreal and the large number of organic skin care companies popping up in health and whole food stores. Jason Organics, Alba and Burt’s Bees are a few examples of top brands.

These creams, lotions, serums and other skin care potions can do a lot for your skincare issues. However, they can only do so much, and the rest is up to you. It is important to remove all your makeup before going to bed, and follow through with whatever treatment program you have chosen for your skin. The normal order of things is cleanser, toner, serum, treatment, moisturizer, sunscreen (for day.) Sunscreen is essential even in winter to protect skin from sun damage. Along with sun exposure, avoid smoking which is another huge obstacle when it comes to looking young.
